British MPs to meet Palestinian factions in Damascus including Hamas
DAMASCUS — A British parliamentary delegation currently visiting Syria is expected to hold a meeting with Palestinian factions based in Damascus including Hamas Movement, a well informed Palestinian source said on Sunday.
He told Quds Press that the meeting would tackle Palestinian developments especially the siege on the Gaza Strip and the required European role regarding the Middle East peace process.
The official Syrian news agency SANA said that president Bashar Al-Assad met with the delegates, who arrived in Damascus on Saturday, and asked them to contribute in setting a clearer view of the European role toward Middle East issues.
Assad said that the European role should push forward a just peace in the region that would ensure security and stability for its peoples.
SANA added, “The catastrophic situation which the Palestinian people suffer from due to the Israeli inhuman siege and the negative effects of the Israeli brutal practices on the peace process represented by rejection of stopping settlement, Judaizing Jerusalem and continuing occupation of the Arab lands were also reviewed.”
