Brotherhood Million-Man Marches, Community Service Events on January 25 Anniversary

In a meeting with Muslim Brotherhood members in Assiut, Upper Egypt, Brotherhood Secretary-General Dr. Mahmoud Hussein stressed the need to work to improve Egyptian society.

"There will be celebrations on the anniversary of the January 25 revolution. However, we will organize a number of events that feature positive, practical community services, such as ‘work and production’ million-man marches, planting a million trees or cleaning a thousand villages. Million-man activities should not only be mere demonstrations.

Separately, in a press statement, Osama Suleiman, member of the Muslim Brotherhood Shura Council, said: "The people want a ceremony befitting the revolution for which many sacrificed so much. We will endeavor to transform our demonstrations for the rights of the revolution’s martyrs and injured into effective community services.

"The Brotherhood and the Freedom and Justice Party will be organizing events to serve the community, in recognition of the martyrs of Egypt, while participating in improving the reality of this homeland, with a smile and optimism for the next phase of this great nation’s history."
