Brotherhood MP’s Brother Arrested, Nephew Faces Fake Weapon Case
The security services in Kafr Al-Sheikh raided on the house of the brother of engineer Mohamed Shaker Sinnar, Muslim Brotherhood parliamentary bloc member for Riyadh constituency, arresting him and his five children.
The security services in Kafr Al-Sheikh raided on Tuesday May, 1st, 2007, the house of hajji Abd Rabbo Sinnar, brother of engineer Mohamed Shaker Sinnar, Muslim Brotherhood parliamentary bloc member for Riyadh constituency; the security forces arrested him and his five children.
The sweep was headed by officer Tawfik Ahmed Gad, Kafr Al-Sheikh police chief, who took 800 pounds from the house of the MP’s brother; this officer fabricated a case of possessing a machine gun and an amount of ammunition against the MP’s nephew, Abdul Nasser, and accused him of trading in weapons; Abdul Nasser and his father were jailed while his brothers were released.
Sinnar said, in press statements, that what happened is actually a new security escalation against the Muslim Brotherhood parliamentarians to intimidate them, citing the arrest of MPs Sabri Amer and Ragab Abu Zeid that releasing them earlier this week.
Sinnar revealed that he faced pressures from the Interior Ministry in order to retreat written questions and statements that he lodged against the Interior Minister for stole him irrigation development machines, up to about 120 machines until now, and the security forces failed to find the robbers.
He added that he met, a while ago, leaders in Kafr Al-Sheikh security directorate, and they asked him not to raise this issue, saying that they exert huge efforts to restore these machines.
The parliamentarian said also that the officer who detained his brother and nephew wanted to meet him more than once bargain with him, but he refused; the officer considered it an insult and he retaliated through arresting the MP’s brother and his family.
Sinnar confirmed that what happened will not dissuade him from doing his supervisory role in parliament and that he plans to lodge an urgent statement to the Interior Minister about the security services harassments against his family, and the policy of fabricating fake cases.
