Cairo: Investigations of 16 Muslim Brotherhood leaders, Extension of Nazeely and his companions’ detention, Renewal of Abul Fotouh’s confinement.
Prosecutors began investigations and interrogations Saturday with 16 detained Muslim Brotherhood members who were arrested while visiting Sayed Abdul Mageed who was also arrested. All members are highly ranked leaders including a member from the Executive Brotherhood bureau and a former MP.
The detainees were transferred from State security headquarters to public prisons where it is anticipated they will face the same host of challenges in which the Movement’s members have been accustomed to including involved in the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.
In relating issues it was decided that Sayed Nazeely and 8 other influential brotherhood leaders have their detention extended 15 days pending investigation.
Prosecutors will be heading towards Almanyal university hospital to question Dr Abdul Monem Abul Fotouh who was arrested last June and transferred to the hospital due to health conditions. Abul Fotouh has been detained in the renowned case of “Global networking of the brotherhood”. It is expected that the detention will be renewed. Although the court has formerly issued orders for his release they have been defied. Other detainees included in the same case and awaiting investigation are Dr Gamal Abdul Salam head of the Doctors union’s emergency relief committee and a businessman, Eng Khaled Albeltagy, Ali Hadeedy, and Ahmed Abbas.
