Cairo Criminal Court Rejects Govt Appeal, Acquits Alexandria Detainees

Cairo Criminal Court rejected the Interior Ministry”s appeal against releasing Mohamed Ahmed Imam, Mostafa Ahmed Imam, and Mohamed Ali Farid, Rafi and Hamed Fouad Al Hamrawi, Mohamed Ibrahim and 20 person group arrested earlier in Marsa Matrouh. The court ordered them released.
 
It is worth mentioning that Al Wirdian group who were arrested in Marsa Matrouh appeared before the prosecution which jailed them pending complaint no. 1423 Marsa Matrouh and the prosecution ordered them jailed for 15 days starting from releasing them from prison.
 
This happened also with Mohamed Imam, Mostafa Imam and Mohamed Farid under complaint no. 1023 of the year 2007 state security and they will appear before the presentation on Thursday.
 
Khalaf Bayyoumi, the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) lawyer in Alexandria and who is responsible for the students case declared that the students received the release on Sep., 5th, 2007 and the Interior Ministry appealed against it. He added that after the court ordered them released the prosecution will either jail them for 15 days or release them.
 
The prosecution is actually expected to order them jailed for 15 days, added Bayyoumi .
