Calls For Government Resignation For Failure To Control Bird Flu
In his statement to Ikhwanweb, Member of the MB Parliamentary Bloc and Health Committee Dr. Akram El-Sha’er criticized the Egyptian government’s approach with the bird flu virus which led to its entrenchment in Egypt. El-Sha’er further called on the government’s resignation after the announcement of the death of a 33-year old woman after contracting the bird flu virus H5N1 on Friday, the third death case this week only.
El-Sha’er warned that the government’s continuance in the same approach could lead to the virus’ development into a human-human transmitted disease via pigs requesting the government to close all pig farms in Cairo as he affirmed the threat they pose to the life of Egyptian citizens. El-Sha’er also emphasized the importance of closing all stores selling live birds.
El-Sha’er further requested the establishment of a committee under the direct authority of the Ministry of Health responsible for the supervision of this issue through veterinary specialists and a permanent committee responsible for the daily monitoring of the developments and transformations of the virus with the aim of controlling and limiting it.
