Continued police threats against blogger Dia Gad
The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information expressed today its strong condemnation of the police threats committed by the State Security organs against blogger Dia Eddin Gad, owner of the blog “angry voice http://soutgadeb.blogspot.com“, who was previously abducted on February 6, 2009, and released on March 27, 2009, and his family are frequently threatened if he does not go to meet the Security officers from every once in a while.
The blogger has received many phone calls from the State Security officers ordering him to go to them, he received one of these phone calls while he was at the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information and the Executive Director of the Network answered the phone call in which the State Security officer repeated his threat; asking Dia to go to them “for his own good”.
The Arabic Network said that “The abstention of the Public Prosecution from conducting any investigation with the officers who abducted Dia Gad last February, although a report was submitted to them, encouraged the officers to continue the police harassment against the young blogger, in addition to the pressures exerted on his family, which turned his life into a “burning hell”, as he said.”
The Arabic Network for Human Rights repeats its lawful demand that the Public Prosecution conducts a serious investigation into the abduction of Dia, which passed over without punishment, let alone the constant threats by the security organs against him and his family.
