Court Releases Dr. Amir Bassam, MB Sharqiya Leader

The Misdemeanors Appeals Court of Zagazig issued, on Tuesday, a ruling of releasing Dr. Amir Bassam, a Muslim Brotherhood leader in Sharqiya and a professor in the Faculty of Medicine Asyut university; Dr Bassam was detained a week ago and the prosecution ordered jailing him for 15 days without any legal basis.
The same court issued, on Monday, a ruling of releasing about 13 Muslim Brotherhood leaders who appeared before Zagazig prosecution and ordered jailing them for 15 days pending trial; these detainees lodged appeals in front of the court against the decision of the prosecution, and the court issued a ruling of releasing them today and yesterday .
Also, the Misdemeanors Appeals Court of Menia El Kameh, Sharqiya, issued a ruling of releasing, on Monday, two MB leaders: Mohamed Guda- a businessman, and Dr. Hamdi Allam a conjunctivitis specialist, who were detained last Thursday at dawn Jan. 4, 2007.
The Misdemeanors Appeals Court of Zagazig will hear the appeal lodged by Abdullah Al Zahawi, a Muslim Brotherhood leader in the governorate, and Dr. Mohamed Lotfi- a pharmacist, and Gamal Salem- a teacher, tomorrow Wednesday Jan. 10, 2007 , amid an expectation that it will release all detainees who had received decisions of releasing them.
It is worth mentioning that the rulings of both Zagazig Appeals court and Menia El Kameh Misdemeanors Appeals court are enforceable and must be implemented unless the prosecution defies them within 48 after the courts rulings are issued.
