Decision To Accept Corrupt Entrepreneurs Deals To Escape Trial Is a Political Decision for Egyptians to Take

The Arabic Network has issued a statement stressing that accepting money offers from corrupt business men in order to escape trial is a political decision not a legal one.

The statement notes that Egyptians have the right to decide also and that it should not be left only to the Prosecutor General to decide.

A number of business men loyal to the ousted regime in Egypt, have offered to pay in cash amounts to stop all legal proceedings against them.

Ahmed Ezz has offered to pay LE 1 billion, Omar AlFotaim has offered LE 500 million, Hady Fadly has offered LE 400 million and Munir Ghabour has offered LE 85 million.

Abu Eleinien in turn has offered to return state property seized from the ministry of tourism. The above names are among a long list of opportunists who robbed the Egyptian people and coupled corruption with oppression which was the prime feature of 30 years of Mubarak’s rule.

The Arabic Network has highlighted that the prosecutor general must press charges of bribing judicial bodies against the corrupt opportunists.

It stressed that Egypt cannot turn a new leaf by allowing the corrupters  to enjoy impunity simply so they can pay money which is in essence a little fraction of what they have stolen.

According to the statement justice must be served and it is better to live in a poor country than in a country where justice is for sale to those who can afford to pay.

Stressing that in fact the stolen money is public property.
