Decision To Release Brotherhood Leaders Postponed

In its session on Tuesday, December 30, the Supreme Administrative Court postponed its resolution regarding executing the decision to release MB Vice-Chair Khayrat El-Shater and 17 other MB leaders who are detained by virtue of a military sentence issued against them to January 13, 2009.

This is to include an official copy of the decision issued by the Administrative Court ordering halting the government challenge presented against the decision issued by the administrative court ending the President”s transferal of MB leaders to military trials.

Abdel-Monem Abdel-Maqsud, Coordinator of the Defense Authority for MB members who have been militarily sentenced, confirmed in his statement to Ikhwanweb the intention of the Defense Authority to present case documents along with an official copy of the administrative court”s decision to inform the Prison Authority, Minister of Interior, Attorney General, and Tora Prison Chief to execute the decision ordering the release of MB leaders.

Abdel-Maqsud explained that nothing is expected in a case whose dimensions are all political adding that “besides, we will be taking our legal measures.”

It is worthy to be mentioned that El-Shater and MB leaders had received a historical decision by the Administrative Court invalidating the decision giving the President the right to transfer civilians from MB leaders to military courts.
