Dozens Ain Shams University Students Beaten, Arrested
Dozens of bullies- backed by security elements- stormed into Ain Shams University, and assaulted female and male students who were staging a sit in in front of the administrative building of the university. They beat the students and threw sound bombs full of shreds of glass and Molotov bombs, seriously wounding an unknown number of students. 13 other students were arrested while getting out of the university.
It is worth noting that about 1000 students organized on Wednesday morning a huge march that toured the campus, protesting at striking off names of students, due to security interventions in university affairs, from final lists of the student union elections. During the march, a signing campaign was carried out in which 2000 students rejected striking off names of students and not recognizing the legitimacy of the government-vetted union. Then, the march went to the administrative building of the university at Al Zaeferana palace, and demanded meeting Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr, the University President, who denied that any student was stricken off but when the students faced him with numbers and names of those whose names were stricken off, he withdrew from talking with the students.
After the University President withdrew, dozens of security forces and bullies started to gather beside the students. Then the students called for help from their university president who got out and started to mock at the striking students. Then gestured to the bullies to stated assaulting the students, turning the campus into a battlefield. Sound bombs and Molotov bombs were showered on the students, amid a continuous beating from soldiers and police officers using belts, against both male and female students.
The bullies destroyed all cars parked in the area under supervision and support of the University President, although the students asked him for help, but he was only following up these aggressions from his office balcony.
Also assaulted was Amr Sharaf, the cameraman of Al-Dustour newspaper, leading to cuts in his head and he was sent to Ain Shams hospital. The security forces tried to arrest him and seize his camera but students intervened and rescued him.
After all these incidents, the students favored to end it with withdrawing from the campus but the bullies and security forces followed them and continued their aggressions and they even destroyed most cars parked beside the university fence. The security forces detained 13 students and sent them to Al-Waily police station where they were beaten while others were threatened with arrest when they return to their homes.
The detained students are:

Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr is currently Ain Shams University President.
