Dr. Katatni Urges All Parties for Broad Consensus on Constitution-Writing Panel Criteria
Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Speaker of the People’s Assembly, called upon all community and political parties and stakeholders to work harder towards a broad consensus on criteria to ensure the participation of all hues and trends of the Egyptian people in the drawing up of post-revolution Egypt’s new national charter.
This press release by Dr. Katatni comes before a meeting of heads and representatives of political parties and principal players with the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) on Saturday.
Dr. Katatni further explained that he will attend a subsequent meeting for finalizing the criteria for selection of members of the Constituent Assembly entrusted with writing the new Constitution.
Those criteria will be determined based on the hearings held by the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Affairs at the People’s Assembly during last week.
