Dr. Morsi: Aboul Fotouh Incident Not Simply Criminal

Dr. Mohamed Morsi, Chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) said that the incident, in which presidential hopeful Dr. Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh was attacked in a brutal armed robbery, a likely candidate for the presidency, confirms that there is a serious security flaw in Egypt, which is bound to take this country down a spiral of violence and crime, pointing out that the incident should not be regarded as merely criminal.

Dr. Morsi underscored the need to expedite the completion of Ministry of Interior cleansing and restructuring, and to work hard to restore security in the Egyptian street, warning of the danger of delay in taking crucial decisions in this direction.

The FJP leader said that he held the security apparatus responsible for this incident, confirming that the party had already asked the Minister of the Interior to purge the ministry with the help of honorable members of staff of the ministry.
