Egypt’s health Minister under fire in parliament

In a recent parliamentary session Hamdy Hassan, from the Muslim Brotherhood parliamentary bloc accused the health minister of consenting to exceedingly expensive medical convoys. Heated discussions took place as Minister Hatem el Gabaly attempted to convince the PA’s health assembly of the state-funded medication’s budget
The discussions included accusations from the ruling party’s members also who argued that Gabaly favoured high profile members over others regarding permits issued for state funded medication to those who did not need them.
Hassan argued that Egypt’s citizens were paying taxes which were inappropriately directed for bribes rather than spent adequately for funding state-paid medications. The session ended with Gabaly agreeing to allow state-paid health care in university hospitals.
