Egypt Judges Club Refuses To Extend Retirement Age To 72 Years

 

Egypt Judges Club announced its rejection to extend the retirement age of the judges to 72 years, considering any attempt in this direction as an unacceptable and censured one for the Community of judiciary.

 

The chancellor Zakaria Abdul Aziz, President of the club, stated: “Our final stance of what was raised about the attempts by some to extend the age of retirement, is the total rejection, which the Community of judiciary unanimously agreed on,” adding that the club was against extending the retirement age since the state started to implement it, starting from extending it from the age of 66 to the age of 68 and then to the age of 70.

 

He stressed that any attempt to extend the age once again, these days, the club will be against it, revealing that judges who are seeking now to extend the age to 70 years, are those of self interests who demand issuing a republican resolution to have seats in the Parliament, and then issuing a quick decision in accordance to their wishes.

 

He confirmed that those of 69 and 70 years are the ones who seek to that extend, on the background of the elections, and influencing judges, especially the youth.

 

It is circulated among the Community of judiciary the wish of the Chancellor Moqbel Shaker, the head of the Court of Cassation and one of the government”s symbols who participated in the elections” battle after overcoming the obstacle of the age, his wish to issue a republican resolution to facilitate the task for him.
