Egypt Junta Military Court Sentences to Death More Civilians in Cairo

A coalition of families of those sentenced to death in Egypt denounces the final confirmation of the death sentences issued by the Military Criminal Court against eight civilians (in case No. 174 for the year 2015 in Cairo). The farcical trial violated all human rights of our loved ones: students, university professors and engineers condemned to death:

– Those ‘condemned’ had been subjected to forced disappearance at the military intelligence compound before being brought before a prosecutor.

– They suffered the most horrendous kinds of torture to sign confessions to fabricated crimes of which they are totally innocent.
– They were tried before military courts, despite being civilians themselves, contrary to local and international laws. Notoriously, evidently, the military justice system in Egypt lacks independence.

– The procedures lacked all internationally-recognized fair-trial standards.

The coalition of families of those sentenced to death calls on all those concerned with human rights to rise up to defend the oppressed before the execution of the sentences, before a repeat of the tragedy where innocents are executed by the junta for political reason, as has happened in the case of "Arab Sharkas".
