Egypt National Alliance in New Protest Week: No Executions, No Emergency
As the world marks the 15th anniversary of the World Day Against the Death Penalty, the coup regime in Egypt celebrates in its own way: issuing more death sentences – 24 in one week
While almost all countries of the world have eliminated use of the state of emergency, the coup junta has renewed the state of emergency in Egypt, ignoring the constitution it has set itself.. This repressive regime thus proves its rule is still unstable and that it still needs emergency laws to protect itself. This reckless regime does not care if imposing such state of emergency convinces tourists and investors that the security situation in Egypt is deteriorating and thus forces them away from Egypt.
The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance stands in full solidarity with those who have been sentenced to death, and vows to make every effort to stop implementation of execution orders. The state of emergency is the worst sign of the worsening security situation in the country.
The Alliance calls for a new revolutionary week entitled "No Executions, No Emergency".
The Alliance asserts that this failed regime, which relies on execution of its opponents and imposition of a state of emergency on the general public, will fail to achieve any stability or development. This state of emergency and the junta’s unjust provisions will be used only to pass or force through its absurd decisions, policies and failed projects such as the so-called "new capital" that will plunge Egypt into more masive debts. Egypt’s foreign debt is close to 80 billion dollars already. This "new capital" needs 300 billion dollars more, which the national economy cannot pump or bear.
