Egypt Pro-Democracy National Alliance Rejects Calls to Arm Revolution
The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance issued the following statement Friday:
The Alliance solemnly salutes the powerful progress of the revolutionary resistance, and pays tribute to the epic steadfastness of the heroes who fill all streets and squares throughout Egypt despite murderous junta terror and treachery.
The Alliance renews its unequivocal rejection of any calls or maneuvers to arm the Revolution, and its condemnation of armed violence, and any attempts to justify it. The Alliance further stresses that any departure from the fundamentals of peaceful protest rests squarely on the shoulders of the military coup leaders, whose treacherous bullets now randomly hit people inside their own homes and shops – which ignites the wrath of the free people of Egypt, already on the brink of explosion.
Junta murderers’ bullets are still desperately trying to stop the wrath of the raging people in the streets. But the Revolution still continues on its carefully considered path, expanding into all areas across the homeland, and among all classes and factions of society.
The courageous popular resistance marches on, from strength to strength. Honorable revolutionaries are still committed to peacefulness as a strategic option in all activities. Processions of martyrs still bear witness to bloody and brutal coup suppression. Egypt is now going through one of the most important defining moments in its modern history. The light of freedom is in sight at the end of the long dark tunnel in which Egypt has lived for decades under corrupt and oppressive military rule.
We call for continued strong revolutionary action. We must maintain the momentum of revolutionary development until we defeat the repressive military junta and wrest the martyrs’ rights.
The National Alliance is completely confident that victory is coming, without a doubt. And Egypt’s youth, who wowed the world in eighteen days of peaceful revolutionary action in 2011, will repeat their stunning feat with continued anti-coup protests.
Those still undecided, deluded by treasonous media myths and utter lies, must be brave enough to return to the Revolution’s liberty squares once again. Judicious officials in state institutions must determine their stances once and for all, and listen to the voice and the demands of the raging people, because the repressive fascist junta will not last long now.
The streets are ours… Retribution is our demand… Freedom is our goal.
