Egyptian Citizen Dies of Torture in Police Station
Ahmed Saber, an employee at CID pharmaceutical company, dies inside Al-Haram hospital after his colleagues found him in front of Omraniya police station with signs of torture on his face, both legs and in other areas in his body. He faced all this torture inside the police station.
The victim, Ahmed Saber Said, 22 years, was held in Umraniya police station pending a certain case. Umraniya prosecution released him last Thursday on 100 pounds bail. However, the police station refused to release him. When his sister, Safaa, went along with some of his friends to the police station last Saturday evening to see him they saw four soldiers carrying him and throwing him in the street while he was unconscious. The took him to Al-Haram hospital while he was in a complete coma. The medical examination revealed that he suffers from Oedema and injuries in his due to extinguishing cigarettes in it. He received treatment in the intensive care room and his sister submitted a complaint to the attorney general who ordered immediate investigations held. His sister accused the officer at Umraniya police station of torturing and attempting to murder her brother. The prosecution subpoenaed the police station officer to investigate with him and demanded the police stations files be examined and to know the way of handling the situation when this incident took place in this police station
