Egyptian National Forces: We Support Palestinians’ Right To Armed Struggle

In a statement after a meeting held Wednesday, January 7, 2009, noon in the political headquarters of the MB Parliamentary Bloc in Manyal, Egyptian National Forces expressed their support for Palestinians" right to use all means including armed national struggle to restore their stolen rights.

The statement, signed by MB Chair Mohamed Mahdi Akef, MB Vice-Chair Dr. Mohamed El-Sayyed Habib, Secretary General of the Labour Party Magdi Hussein, NCDP representative Samir "Eleish, Independent Parliamentary Bloc Representative MP Gamal Zahran, Kefaya General Coordinator Abdel-Galil Mustafa, Thinker and Judge Tarek El-Bishry, Tagammu" Party Leader Abdul-Ghaffar Shukr, Ambassador Ibrahim Yusri, and Journalist MP Mustafa Bakry, affirmed that resistance was a legitimate right recognized by all international covenants, laws, and customs, primarily the Geneva Accord and UN General Assembly.

Furthermore, the statement laid full responsibility on the official Arab stance, Security Council"s, and all other official international institutions for the terrorist crimes and genocide committed by the Israelis in Gaza asserting that if it weren"t for the silence, weakness, and connivance of some, the Israeli enemy wouldn"t have dared to commit such a massacre and continue on with it.

The statement further refused the official international and Arab stances that put the criminal and victim on the same level and falsely criminalized resistance in the face of occupation emphasizing that the crimes committed in Gaza not only target the resistance or impose certain conditions on the Palestinian people before submitting but also aim to subject the whole Islamic and Arab nation to the interests of the Zionist-American project in and outside the region.

The statement also considered the events in Gaza a direct threat to both Egyptian and Arab national security and requested supporting resistance.  It further requested the Arab regimes tied by agreements or on relations with the Israel to follow the example of Venezuela and Mauritania by expelling the Israeli Ambassadors from their countries and withdrawing their Ambassadors from Israel.

Moreover, the statement requested that all measures be taken to end the genocide in Gaza including, most importantly, severing all diplomatic, political, economic, and cultural relations with Israel; that decisions be taken supporting resistance movements and their legitimate right to defend themselves; and the activation of all mechanisms that support resistance and help lift the siege imposed on Gaza by opening the crossings and allowing access to humanitarian aid whether food, medicine, or any other form of assistance.

The statement also called on the Egyptian government to immediately execute the decision issued by the Administrative Court ordering halting the exportation of gasoline and petroleum to Israel which are being used in the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people.  The statement also called on the Egyptian Parliament to play its role in freezing the Camp David Accords, the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty, and those following them in response to Israel"s breaking them.  The statement also called on all national forces and the civil society in Egypt and Arab countries to announce next Friday as the general day for solidarity with the people of Gaza and to declare Arab rage against the Israeli offensive.

The statement also called on all Palestinian factions to unite themselves on the fixed Palestinian national interests including, most importantly, the right to resist occupation to restore stolen rights.

Statement By Egyptian National Forces Against Israeli Offensive

On Wednesday, January 7, 2009, representatives from the Egyptian national forces who have signed this statement, held a meeting in which they approved the following:

Resistance is a legitimate right recognized by all international covenants, laws, and customs, primarily the Geneva Accord and decisions of the UN General Assembly…and since the Israeli enemy is an occupier of the land of Palestine, we declare our support for Palestinians" right to use all means to restore their stolen rights including armed national struggle.

We, the undersigned, lay full responsibility on the official Arab stance, Security Council, and all other official international institutions for the terrorist crimes and genocide committed by the Israelis in Gaza and affirm that if it weren"t for the silence, weakness, and connivance of some, the Israeli enemy wouldn"t have dared to commit such a massacre and continue on with it.

We, the undersigned, confirm their refusal of the official international and Arab stances that put the criminal and victim on the same level and falsely criminalize the resistance movements confronting occupation

We, the undersigned, affirm that the crimes committed in Gaza not only aim at doing away with resistance or imposing certain conditions on the Palestinian people before submitting but also aim at subjecting the whole Islamic and Arab nation to the interests of the Zionist-American project in and outside the region.

The events in Gaza are a clear and direct threat to both Egyptian and Arab national security and requested supporting resistance.  Therefore, we stress that defending and supporting resistance is an Egyptian, Arab, as well as Islamic necessity.

This requires that Arab regimes who are tied by agreements or are on relations with Israel to follow the example of Venezuela and Mauritania by expelling the Israeli Ambassadors from our countries and withdrawing their Ambassadors from Israel.

We request that all measures be taken to end the genocide in Gaza including, most importantly, severing all diplomatic, political, economic, and cultural relations with Israel; that decisions be taken supporting resistance movements in their legitimate right to defend themselves; and the activation of all mechanisms that support resistance and end the siege imposed on our folks in Gaza by opening the crossings and allowing access to humanitarian aid whether food, medicine, or any other form of assistance.

We, the undersigned, call on the Egyptian government to immediately execute the decision issued by the Administrative Court obliging halting the exportation of gasoline and petroleum to Israel which are being used in attacking the Palestinian people.

We also call on the Egyptian Parliament to play its role in freezing the Camp David Accords, the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty and others that were entailed, in response to Israel"s breaking these agreements.

We also call on all national forces and the civil society in Egypt and Arab countries to announce a general day for solidarity with our fellows in Palestine and for expressing Arab rage against the Israeli offensive.

We announce this Friday, January 9, 2009 as the day for solidarity with the Palestinian people.

We refuse the governmental security measures preventing demonstrations, and request respect for the Egyptian people"s will and desires to express their opinions through peaceful means as we call for the release of those who have been detained for showing support to the Palestinian people.

In view of the historical role of the Egyptian people in supporting the Palestinian issue, we request Egypt to continue in its leading role which is well-known at the Arab, regional, and international levels, in defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

We call on all Palestinian factions to unite themselves in order to protect the fixed Palestinian interests including, most importantly, the right to resist occupation to restore stolen rights.
