Egyptian Security attacks MB female students

Security forces in Egypt’s Zagazig University attacked students belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood days after they filed a lawsuit to stop the running of the students’ elections. An appeal was filed after security intervened in the elections and excluded MB students and other opposition from running in the elections.

Somaya Ashraf, a fourth year  student  at the Faculty, was attacked by police and security guard resulting in a haemorrhage ,while another student’s leg was broken after they  both refused to be frisked by the university’s guards.

The students were taken to Zaqaziq Hospital for treatment and hundreds of students demonstrated in front of the gates.

Security forces surrounded the university and used water cannons to disperse the angry students who were outraged by the attacks by security and their repeated violations. They chanted “where is freedom, security forces are between us”.

Dr. Ibrahim el-Gaafary denounced the incident and described it as “deplorable”.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb he asserted that the policy of repression, terrorism and attacks on university campus is a security measure similar to that applied in Al-Azhar and institutions of higher institutions. He pointed out that these measures are a complete violation to the law and constitution and breaches the student’s right to hold activities at universities.

MB MP Dr. Gamal Qarni told Ikhwanweb that the regime has lost control over its affairs and measures used against its people in  dealing with such issues demonstrates that the  regime is nothing short of being a repressive and tyrannical one.
