Ein Shams Students Protest Harassment of Veiled Student

Ein Shams Students Protest Harassment of Veiled Student

The incident took place last week when a vieled student at The Faculty of Education, Ein Shams University, was hanging a poster encouraging students to properly observe the month of Ramdan and included a prophetic saying, when she was stopped by Dean Abdel Aziz el Shakhs, who happened to be passing by, who verbally reprimanded the student and pulled down the poster.

The Dean also called campus security personnel who treated the student harshly and forcibly removed her veil in a bizarre behavior especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

On the following day, about one thousand students marched within the university premises protesting the disgraceful acts on the part of both the Dean and the security employees. The protestors demanded an apology to the student and punishing the security employee.

The Dean rejected their demands and ordered the suspension of 20 of them, citing their deviation from university systems and statutes.

The students condemned that misconduct on the part of the faculty which didn’t even observe the sanctity of Ramadan and veil in the sight of Muslim students.
