El-Katatni meets ElBaradei to discuss the future of political reform in Egypt

Dr. Saad el-Katatni, member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Executive Bureau and head of the MB parliamentary bloc, met with Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, former Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and head of the National Committee for Change on Tuesday March 23. The two discussed

the internal situation and the international affairs in the region.

El-Katatni revealed that the two sides agreed on the importance of political change as a gateway for comprehensive change in Egypt. An issue which the opposing political parties, movements and trends all had in common.

In response to a question raised by “Ikhwanweb” about the MB joining the newly founded National Committee for Change, El-Katatni said that “We will participate in the committee but as individuals since the committee includes members from different intellectual and political trends. We have the right as individuals to express our opinions”.

The MB support of ElBaradei’s candidacy to presidency was not discussed during the meeting and El-Katatni emphasized that it was still too early to decide.

He added however, “The MB is studying the ideas offered and listening to the different views and will announce its stance at the right time after careful study”.
