Electronic Campaign calls for fair Elections in Egypt

A group of political activists and those concerned with public work have launched a campaign on the internet “My Vote is My Demand” as part of the early preparation for the parliamentary elections of 2010 and the presidential elections in 2011.

In his statement to Ikhwanweb, Chancellor Mahmoud El-Khodeiry Vice President of the Court of Cessation and one of the coordinators of the campaign said “the campaign comes within the framework of the early preparation to guarantee the fairness of the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections”

He added that this campaign is considered one of the most important campaigns in the forthcoming period, especially after rumours of the dissolving of the parliament. It is vital that sufficient steps be taken to increase the awareness of the mass of citizens on the importance of voting in the upcoming elections.

Chancellor Khodeiry pointed out that what they call for in this campaign is providing international supervision of elections in addition to giving the right to placing votes for those working abroad, similar to what Iran conducted in  its recent electoral experience.

It is scheduled for the campaign to be enforced at all levels and in all governorates of the Republic
