Faiom Detainees Go On Hunger Strike Against Maltreatment & Denying Food And Medicines

The detainees of Faiom who are kept in Sannouras custody went on hunger strike on Thursday October 23rd in protest against their miserable conditions at the prison.


Detainees suffer from mistreatment at the prison as well as the high humidity levels of the custody room due to continuous water drops. The toilet has no doors. Officer Amer Abdul Maqssoud, the commissioner of the police station, denied them food, covers, and medicines.


Faiom prosecution decided on Wednesday October 22nd the imprisonment of 12 MB detainees for 15 days pending investigations on charges of joining an outlawed Brotherhood group, violating the citizens’ freedom, breaking the constitution, involving in terrorist actions, and working on ousting the regime.


Only six of them are detained in Sannouras prison; blogger Mohamed Khairi Gamil, Khalifa Mohamed, Mahmoud Abdul Mohsin, Mohamed Khalifa, Mohamed Hussein, and Mohamed Mansour. Mohamed Hussein and Mohamed Mansour were ordered released by Faiom prosecution and in wait for the Interior Ministry’s challenge of the release decision.
