Farid Ismail Assures: New Constitution a Celebration of Egypt’s Revolution

Dr. Farid Ismail, member of the Executive Office of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) and member of the Constituent Assembly (CA), affirmed that the CA has completed more than 90% of Egypt’s new constitution, which he described saying: "it will grace Egypt’s glorious revolution.

"Certainly, it will realize the hopes and aspirations of the great Egyptian people and will be expressive of all citizens."

This announcement is consistent with the statement made by Dr. Hisham Qandil, Egypt’s new Prime Minister, on Saturday: “The completion of the final drafting of the constitution will be around the end of September.

"After the drafting of the constitution, preparations will get underway for the parliamentary elections, within one month."

Dr. Qandil further called upon all Egyptian political parties and movements to get ready for the election process, in order to produce a parliament that truly echoes the pulse of the Egyptian street.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Diab, member of the CA, assured that: "Authoring the Constitution, the CA has made tremendous efforts both at home and abroad, and throughout the governorates of Egypt".

Moreover, Dr. Diab confirmed that the CA’s committees have already completed most of the articles of the Constitution

"As soon as an article is completed, it gets referred to the Drafting Committee immediately, to set down and submit the first draft to the CA, then the Egyptian street."

Diab added that what is happening inside the CA’s committees reflects the honorable image of the positive interaction, dialogue and harmony among all. He stressed that there are no challenges in the CA’s way, which is going to finish its work soon.

Diab pointed that the CA took an important step by touring most of Egypt’s provinces to canvass opinion of the Egyptian street, so it would not work in isolation from society.

"These tours included Egyptians abroad, in order to produce a Constitution acceptable to all – one that honors and celebrates the modern Egyptian state."

Meanwhile, Dr. Osama Yassin, new Minister of Youth, said that the CA has set a separate article for youth that "covers care services for young people, as well as their cultural, scientific, spiritual and physical development, as a right guaranteed by the state for youths, so they can participate positively in political and community activities".
