Final Verdict: Two Months Prison For Ibrahim Eissa

Final Verdict: Two Months Prison For Ibrahim Eissa

Abu Al-Ola Criminal Court of Appeal issued its final verdict against the journalist Ibrahim Eissa, in the case of the President”s Health, sentencing him to prison for two months, hence, a form of accepting the appeal and easing the previous sentence by reducing it from six months to two.

The Court of Appeal verdict is considered final, meaning it can not be challenged and should be executed promptly.  Thus, Eissa is expecting the execution of the sentence within a few days as well as other issues he may face regarding paying great compensations based on his conviction in this case.

This case goes back to the month of August in the year 2007, when Eissa had been publishing news articles concerning President Mubarak” health in which he requested the disclosure of the president”s illness.  As a result, the prosecution filed a lawsuit against him, and he was tried several months ago before Abu Al-Ola Criminal Court which sentenced him to prison for six months. However, Eissa and the prosecution appealed the court”s decision to Abu Al-Olaa Court of Appeal which decided on
Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 to reduce the sentence to two months.
