Five Muslim Brothers Detained Two Days After Acquittal

Five Muslim Brothers Detained Two Days After Acquittal

The Interior Ministry issued a decision Wednesday to detain five Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members from the Delta province of Kafr El Sheikh, two days after they were acquitted by Kafr El Sheikh Court of First Instance.

Lawyers of the detainees expressed their concern that the detention might threaten the lives of three, who suffer from serious illness.

The detainees are Ali Kamal (has paralysis in his two legs), Mohamed Nassim (also has paralysis), Abdel Basset Mohamed (liver and diabetes), Ibrahim Zarif, and Ateya Ibrahim.

The five were arrested, among 39 others, from Baltim coastal resort in a weekend holiday a month ago.

In a related context, Kafr El Sheikh Court of First Instance decided on Tuesday to release nine MB members from the same group, leaving 39 in custody.
