FJP: Hoping for Balanced Parliament Representing All Egyptians

With the announcement of the results of the first round of the first phase of parliamentary elections, which showed the ability of the Egyptian people to cross over to the stage of building the national institutions of the modern constitutional democratic state, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) extends sincere thanks to the Egyptian people for their positive, civilized, and highly distinguished performance.
The party emphasises that the composition of parliament and parliamentary alliances is linked to the final results of all three election phases, which will most likely lead to a balanced parliament that reflects the various components of the Egyptian public. We are committed to work with all parties of the Democratic Alliance. There has not been any contact on this matter between us and any other party in the electoral process. The FJP believes it is too early to talk about the next government, and that the priority now is for cooperation between all parties and a spirit of responsibility, in order to take the country across the current transition phase on to building new foundations for all institutions of the Egyptian state.
The FJP also extends special thanks to Egypt’s judges, army and police, who worked extremely hard in the first round of the first phase, and are expected to do more for the completion of the elections, which showed the ability of the Egyptian people to continue their successful endeavours until they realise their hopes and objectives for freedom, democracy, social justice and human dignity.
