FJP: Mubarak’s Trial Victory for Egyptians, Step Towards Democracy
Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Secretary General Dr. Saad Katatny welcomed the trial of the toppled Mubarak and his interior minister, which began Wednesday morning. He described the process although far from complete is a step towards genuine democracy in Egypt. According to Katatny, the trial will bridge the gap between the people and the government, and improve the relations with the ruling military council so Egyptians can work together to build a credible system of governing free of corruption.
The trial, televised worldwide, is a victory for Egyptians who have spent decades under an authoritarian regime, Katatny expected that if the trials are fair and transparent, all defendants should be found guilty.
