FJP Chairman: Statement of Honour No Supra-Constitutional

 Dr. Mohamed Morsi, Chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) confirmed that the meeting held Saturday with Chief of staff of the armed forces Sami Anan was fruitful. Numerous topics discussed were clarified and others were referred to as untouchable in the future.

 In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Morsi stated that the supra-constitutional principles and the guidelines concerning the choosing of the panel that will draft the new constitution have been finally resolved.

"The parties present at the meeting agreed to and signed a written Statement of Honour document similar to Al-Azhar document which all parties collectively consented to, and similar to all previous proposals agreed upon by all parties, the details of which will be announced in a press statement", he said.

He asserted that SCAF issued Saturday amendments to article five of the electoral law to allow members of political parties to bid for seats on the individuals-list. Furthermore, the referral of citizens to military tribunals will be stopped. "The elimination of the emergency law however is still to be looked into", he stated.
