FJP Denies Its Chairman Running For Presidency
Secretary General for the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), Dr. Saad Katatny denied media reports that Dr. Mohamed Morsy, the party’s chairman, announced during an event on Saturday at the Grand Hyatt that he intends to run for presidency in the upcoming elections.
Katatny stressed that no member from the Muslim Brotherhood or its party are eyeing the country’s top job. He stated that the MB and FJP have repeatedly reiterated that their top goal is the interests of the Egyptian people and for that reason it was determind that for Egypt’s best interest non of MB members should run for presidency at this time when the country is politically divided.
Calling on the media, Katatny said that the press must demonstrate credibility and professionalism rather than relying on rumours when reporting. He added that Egypt is enduring a difficult phase during this transitional period and that Egyptians from all spectrums should unite and channel efforts for Egypt’s progress.
