FJP Hails President Morsi’s Decrees in Aftermath of Rafah Terrorist Attack
Dr. Essam El-Erian, Acting Chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), affirmed that the Egyptian President’s decrees in response to political and popular demands, earlier on Wednesday, are a positive step towards the goals of the revolution.
Morsi issued Presidential decrees dismissing Egypt’s intelligence chief, the head of the Republican Guard, the commander of military police and the Governor of North Sinai, appointing Major-General Ahmed Mohamed Zaki as chief of the Presidential Guard, Mohamed Raafat Abdel-Wahid as acting head of the General Intelligence Service, Major-General Magid Mustafa Kamel as assistant to the Minister of Interior – for Central Security affairs, Major-General Osama Mohamed Al-Saghir as assistant to the Minister of Interior – for Cairo Security affairs, and Ambassador Rifa’a Al-Tahtawi as head of the Office of the President of the Republic.
Erian stressed the need to carefully consider the rest of long-term proposals and suggestions made by political and national parties and stakeholders. He called for the President’s urgent decisions to be followed with new policies, with a national vision of Sinai and its residents, and Palestine and its people, and a new approach vis a vis the gangs protected by certain people in power and the lax homeland security.
Dr. Mohamed Beltagy, member of the FJP’s Executive Office, announced that he will whole-heartedly support the resolutions decreed by the President earlier today, Wednesday, describing them as revolutionary resolutions.
He said that political parties and stakeholders will shortly hold a meeting, at the request of the President, to offer visions, proposals and suggestions for the situation in the Sinai.
