FJP MPs Demand Summoning Military Intelligence, Transferring Mubarak to Tora Prison

Dr. Osama Yassin, MP for the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) and Chairman of the Youth Committee (YC), demanded that the Egyptian People’s Assembly must issue legislation to ensure full and proper cleansing of the Interior Ministry, as well as immediate decisions by relevant authorities to distribute Tora detainees to various prisons and detention centers, and for those detainees to be held incommunicado in solitary confinement, in addition to proper application of prison regulations to them, with no preferential treatment over other prisoners.

He stressed the need for the transfer of former President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak to Tora prison hospital, after providing it with any necessary equipment, for him to be treated like any other prisoner, without any advantage or special benefit.

Dr. Mohamed El-Beltagy, MP for the FJP, underscored the need to summon representatives of the Egyptian general intelligence and military intelligence who should be held accountable for all events beginning from 28 January to the tragic events the country is witnessing today.

Dr. Beltagy asserted that if those authorities thus held responsible, the Ministry of Interior, general intelligence or military intelligence, fail to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of recent crimes, they should lose office and leave the responsibility to others who can.

Dr. Beltagy highlighted the existence of a strong relationship between the security services, led by the Ministry of the Interior, and the thugs.

Dr. Helmi Al-Gazzar, an FJP MP, revealed that a number of officers involved in counter-revolution activities, in addition to remnants of the former regime, are still amongst the ranks of the security services.

MP Hussein Ibrahim, FJP Parliamentary Commission representative, said that the police are provoking the people – until now – by not taking any actions or even decisions to calm the Egyptian street, such as the distribution of old regime chums and cronies from Tora prison to various other prisons.

Dr. Farid Ismail, FJP MP and Deputy of the National Security Committee said, "There is a plot afoot to destabilize Egypt, orchestrated by Interior Ministry generals affiliated with Tora prison inmates".

Dr. Ismail added that the armed forces had withdrawn security personnel from all governorates. He demanded the return of full security services to all institutions. "The Egyptian Public Prosecutor is the cause of all recent calamities. We do not know who is behind him for sure", he added.
