FJP Rejects Brutal Quelling of Shura Council Demonstrations as Mubarak Regime Replication
Dr. Hamza Zawbaa, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) spokesman, said: "Repression and restriction of human rights is completely unacceptable".
In a statement, he added: "What is happening in Egypt today is the birth of a mutated and disfigured clone of the autocratic Mubarak regime… These are the vices of the coup, frequently excruciatingly suffered by supporters of democracy and legitimacy.
"These tragic scenes of vicious attacks on activists – men and women – with such arrogance by security forces that boast complete impunity, repeated too often with pro-legitimacy protesters are reminiscent of ousted Hosni Mubarak’s regime, its tyranny and violation of freedoms and rights with total indifference."
The FJP spokesman further added: "We need everyone to take a unified non-violent stance towards the evident repression and dictatorship behind the putschists’ laws that seek to gag mouths and ban the right to protest peacefully".
He demanded the release of all detainees, saying: "We must continue to call for the release of all detainees and political prisoners and to reject repression and persecution, because we are all equally Egyptian. We must not discriminate. We are one people, not a nation at war with another – except in the minds of the putschists".
