FJP Secretary-General: Some Try to Discard or Cover Up Cases Public Prosecutor Has Opened
Hussein Ibrahim, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Secretary-General, affirmed that the person worst hit by the recent ruling to bring back Public Prosecutor Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud is Justice Mahmoud himself, especially with that ruling issued less than 20 days after he paid back 64,000 Egyptian Pounds he had received in bribes from a certain national newspaper and the Ministry of Information, after it was revealed that he and more than 30 other officials accepted various expensive gifts and bribes.
In a press statement, Ibrahim said that: "New Public Prosecutor Talaat Ibrahim has opened corruption files that pulled away the masks of many, who now seek to once again close these files, destroy them, or cover up those affairs by any means, at any cost.
"All these attempts are doomed to failure. In postrevolution Egypt, the people stand alert and aware, and will challenge any attempts to drag the country back to dark and repressive times past."
