FJP’s Erian: Army Erred in Monday Statement; Will Not Allow Attempts to Sabotage Democracy
Dr. Essam El-Erian, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Vice-Chairman, said: "The army command erred by issuing a statement that sidetracked the President of Egypt and made no mention of, nor reference to, the Constitution or the law, which confused the popular, partisan and political arena – as others did before.
"The people responded and corrected mistakes. It will not allow anyone to ignore their choices as made clear time and time again through the ballot-box, approving the Constitution and electing a civilian President to lead a civil state where the army does its much-appreciated role under the leadership of Supreme Commander, who is obliged to dutifully maintain the army’s unity and its ability to defend the homeland."
The FJP leader further added, "The Egyptian revolution was guided by God. He will protect its march to completeness".
