Following Border Attack, FJP Criticizes Diplomat for Dining With Israeli President
Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) leaders criticized Egypt’s Deputy Ambassador to Israel, Mustafa Alkony, for attending a Ramadan Iftar hosted by Israel’s President Shimon Perez in Jerusalem, while Egyptians are mourningfor the killing of Egyptian soldiers by Israel in a border attack last week.
According to Ossama Suleiman FJP leader in Beheira, this incident as well as the cabinet’s decision to withdraw the ambassador from Tel Aviv and revoking it later, is a sign that Egypt’s foreign policy has yet to meet the expectations of the Egyptian people after the revolution.
He called on the authorities to take the appropriate stance following the Israeli offensive on Egypt’s borders, to reflect the new Egypt which has restored its dignity following the revolution.
He stressed that an immediate investigation into the Deputy Ambassador’s decision is required, stressing that Egypt is no longer obliged to follow the policy of the former regime.
