Fotoh: West Must Not Pressure Regimes To Curb Islamists

Dr. Abdel Moneum Aboul-Fotouh hoped that the US and the West in general to stop their pressures on Arab regimes to curb Islamists and deny them their rights.

Asked what Isalmists will do in case they assume power, Aboul-Fotouh pointed out that the main tenets of Islam include freedom and justice; consequently, no citizen will be denied his right due to his color, race or creed.

Aboul-Fotouh raised his eyebrows at the West which is continuously demanding the Islamic movements to respect the international agreements and to recognize “Israel" while it (the West) is giving a deaf ear to voices of the oppressed who demand their rights.

Aboul-Fotouh confirmed that the values and principles of Islam make us respect any previous treaty which will be handled according to the legal mechanisms. Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh confirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood opposes any oversight from any religious organization to applying the second article of the Egyptian constitution.

Dr. Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh also confirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood opposes any oversight from any religious organization to applying the second article of the Egyptian constitution, stipulating that the principles of Islamic Sharia are the main source of legislation.

Aboul-Fotouh added that the only authority entrusted with monitoring the article before or after applying it is the Supreme Constitutional Court, explaining that the main point is that politics is exercised in the absence the independence of the judiciary and a presence of corruption in the executive authority.

"The Egyptian autocratic regime deprived all people, including students and workers, of democracy”, said Aboul-Fotouh, describing the current state of Egyptian politics as a political desertification; he stressed also that the Muslim Brotherhood is keen, in the midst of all these tough incidents, on exercising Islam within a civilian perspective.

The MB leader revealed also that the key obstacle before the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is legalization. He said that the MB is ready to present a legal framework through founding a party that has a an Islamic source of authority, beside the Da’wa (preaching) group, with both adopting the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology while they are separate from each other as much as the administrative aspect is concerned.

"The current Egyptian regime does not want to have any honest competition with any social, economic or political entity in the society", he noted.

Regarding the recent rise of the Islamic movements, Aboul-Fotouh confirmed that the practical actions of the Islamic movement all over the world are marked by adopting standards of democracy and election mechanisms.
