Freedom and Justice Party: Referendum Result Rigged Like Fateful Mubarak 2010 Election
The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) salutes the masses of the Egyptian people who responded positively to the call of the Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance to boycott the illegitimate referendum. The fascist putschists think the clock can be turned back, announcing rigged referendum results reminiscent of the fifties and sixties’ elections. The vote was held in an atmosphere of brutal repression, arbitrary arrests and heinous murders of all opposition, just as it was in ousted Mubarak’s days.
The majority of the Egyptian people boycotted the referendum. Thus the truth emerged for all to see. Polling stations were totally empty, deserted. This unmasked the coup, its elections committee and their fraudulent results, which they falsely claimed could legitimize their murderous regime.
We are confident that the whole world, together with the great masses that boycotted the referendum, witnessed with their own eyes the incredibly low number of participants, and reject the ludicrous figures announced by the traitorous putschists.
The coup’s election commission, which acted as if we were still in the middle of the last century, forgot that modern technology transmitted to Egyptians at home and abroad, and to the whole world as well, the true picture of low voter turnout. Thereupon, international organizations issued reports, which exposed the fraudulent poll process.
That election commission also forgot that pro-coup parties and forces themselves admitted defeat. Everyone saw how each faction blamed the other for not mobilizing the masses to vote. Furthermore, youths, who represent the largest segment of the electorate, boycotted the referendum.
The FJP pays a special tribute to Egyptian youth, who were and remain the spark of the Revolution, for their effective boycott of this vote farce. Youth boycott was a serious blow to the coup and the forces that support the putschists. It made the head of the coup’s election commission assume the role of a political analyst, claiming that the absence of youths from polling stations was due to university examinations.
The heinous putschists are all trying to close their eyes, rather than face reality and see millions of young students, professionals, workers, craftsmen and farmers taking part in demonstrations in support of democratic and constitutional legitimacy. Now, there is hardly a spot on the land of Egypt where there are no anti-coup demonstrations. This is a new powerful wave of the January 25 Revolution, where one of the most important causes was the rigging of the 2010 elections and the announcement of very similar results to recent official announcements.
The FJP is confident that the Egyptian people is capable of reclaiming the January 25 Revolution, and very soon. The people will hold to task all those who violated their rights or contributed to the falsification of popular will.
