Freedom and Justice Party Statement on Friday, 5 July Demonstrations
In the name of God, Most Merciful, Most Gracious
The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) expresses deep gratitude to the millions of civilized and alert Egyptians who responded positively and rallied in all the governorates of Egypt in enormous yet peaceful protests, through which they stated their utter rejection of the brutal military coup and demanded reinstatement of President Mohamed Morsi to his constitutional duties and cancelation of all constitutionally-invalid proceedings and decrees, which violate clearly and repeatedly expressed popular will.
The FJP further affirms that it will continue protests, along with all its members and supporters, amid the great masses of the honorable Egyptian people, until the reinstatement of President Morsi to his office, and exhorts all FJP members and supporters to continue to commit to peaceful protest, and not to be drawn into violence.
The FJP also calls on the armed forces to fulfill its duty to protect demonstrators and peaceful protest activities, and to stop acts of thuggery that led to the death of dozens of innocent peaceful protesters and injured thousands. May God grant mercy and forgiveness to the Martyrs and a speedy recovery to the injured.
The FJP condemns all types and forms of violence committed by the security services and all the vindictive measures taken against political opponents and pro-democracy media institutions.
May God protect Egypt from all harm and all evil. May God crush treacherous tyrants. God is the Omnipotent, but most people do not know.
Essam El-Erian
Vice-Chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party
