Dr. Essam El-Erian, Vice Chairman and acting head of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), hailed the new liberal party: "We welcome the Constitution Party and its contribution to partisan life. Egypt deserves the energy and good endeavors of all its citizens".
Erian added, "New parties will appear… and others will disappear from the scene, leaving no enduring legacy. We do hope the FJP flourishes and prospers, for a real democratic life in Egypt".
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohamed Beltagy, member of the FJP Executive Office, congratulated Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, founder of the Constitution Party, on submitting the party’s papers to Egypt’s Political Party Affairs Committee in Cairo.
Beltagy said on his official Facebook page, "We hope to have the Constitution Party as a serious contributor to real partisan life in Egypt. We hope it will be a model for honorable political opposition and honest competition that will enrich the national scene with real political pluralism, and will share the responsibility of building the homeland".
Ali Khafagi, FJP Youth Secretary in Giza, sent a congratulatory message to the youth of the Constitution Party on submitting the party’s papers and officially registering it: "I hope it will form strong worthy competition that will serve the country and the people in the upcoming parliamentary elections".
The Constitution Party submitted its official registration papers to the Political Party Affairs Committee on Wednesday morning in the presence of a number of the party’s prominent founder members.
Dr. Emad Abu Ghazi, Chairman of the new party’s Steering Committee, handed the registration documents, with representatives of founder members submitting 11,000 notary documents.
Thus the Constitution Party starts working officially as a political party under the leadership of Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, who is currently overseas for a surgical operation.
