French society organizes protest sit-in at Egyptian embassy

PARIS, The Sheikh Yassin coalition on Sunday evening organized a sit-in at the Egyptian embassy in Paris to protest Egypt’s construction of a steel wall along its borders with the Gaza Strip.

The coalition, a French society, said that the protest was also objected to the Egyptian ban on solidarity marches with the Gaza Strip.

Hundreds of Arab and foreign solidarity activists lifting signs and banners with photos of the victims of the Israeli offensive took part in the sit-in denouncing the siege on Gaza.

Abdul Hakim Al-Safriwi, the head of the coalition, condemned the Egyptian authorities’ assault on activists participating in the march for Gaza freedom. He asked Cairo to facilitate the passage of foreign activists into Gaza and not to block them because their mission is humanitarian in the first place and does not contradict with Egypt’s national interests.

In Amman, the Jordanian security forces on Sunday prevented a similar sit-in before the Egyptian embassy organized by the Jordanian professional syndicates to protest the steel wall.

In Cairo, the Muslim Brotherhood accused the Egyptian government with drafting the edict issued by Al-Azhar Islamic research complex that supported the steel wall.
