Global Remember Rabaa Campaign Kicks Off
"The story of Egypt’s Day Of Shame", The Independent.
Following the military coup, on July 3rd 2013, thousands of peaceful Egyptians took to the streets all over Egypt to call for the reinstatement of democracy.
Two huge sit-ins in Cairo, in Rabaa and Nahda squares, symbolized the struggle of Egyptians for democracy and freedom and their resistance against the return of the Military/Police State.
On August 14th 2013, the military-backed government officially ordered the dispersal of protest sit-ins at Rabaa and Nahda squares.
Over the span of 24 hours, 1000 plus protesters were killed. Since that day, the humanitarian situation has been deteriorating. Daily killings, torture and illegal detentions continue to date. Those responsible for these crimes have not been brought before justice yet.
Our Mission:
• To raise mass awareness of the Rabaa Massacre and crimes against humanity committed against peaceful, innocent Egyptians.
• To call for accountability for what has been described by Human Rights Watch as Crimes against Humanity.
• Keeping alive the memory of Rabaa and gather free-willed people to prevent the recurrence of such a tragedy in the future anywhere in the world.
Campaign Activities:
Range from demonstrations to press conferences, press releases, seminars, social media, infographics, documentary films and others.
