Habib: Honorable National Forces Agree On a Reform Bundle Against Rising Despotism and Corruption

In his statement to Ikhwanweb, Muslim Brotherhood Deputy Chairman Dr.  Mohamed Habib said that there are those who are benefitting from the state of corruption and despotism resulting from the extension of the Emergency Law, and which have led to the country”s scientific, technological, and civilization lag, in addition to its failure in addressing the daily problems citizens are suffering from.

Habib affirmed the rejection of all national and political forces of the Emergency Law extension and its consequences of delaying the constitution and natural law, transferring civilians to military courts, and suppressing organized political and social efforts.

Further, he pointed out the insistent call of the honorable voices in Egypt for the necessity of political reform, the key to all other types of reform.  Moreover, he affirmed the agreement of all national and political forces on a reform bundle which includes putting an end to the emergency state and releasing general liberties including the freedom to form parties, the freedom of press, the freedom of opinion and expression, and the freedom of peaceful protest.  This also included the necessity of repealing exceptional courts and laws which constrain liberties, the necessity for judicial authority to gain full independence, and the running of free, transparent, and fair elections that are completely and truly supervised by judges and that reflect the free will of the people.

Habib further accused the Egyptian regime of its lack of will and desire for reform pointing out the keenness of the honorable national forces in moving towards reform and the establishment of a true democratic society.
