Hamas: Fatah escalated kidnappings as a reply to Dwaik’s initiative
The Hamas Movement said Thursday that Fatah faction responded to PLC speaker Dr. Aziz Dwaik’s initiative to end the internal division and restore the national unity by kidnapping more ex-detainees and wives of prisoners still in Israeli jails.
In a press statement to the PIC, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum underlined that Fatah always escalates its political arrest campaigns when the national dialog rounds become closer or when any reconciliation committee is formed to end the division or to address the political arrest file.
Spokesman Barhoum stressed that these escalations in the West Bank target the Egyptian efforts, the coming dialog rounds and the Palestinian unity, adding that Egypt has to state its position strongly towards the violations committed by Fatah against Hamas.
In a related context, the PA security apparatuses in the West Bank stormed Wednesday the building of Nablus municipality and rounded up in a humiliating manner deputy mayor Dr. Hafez Shaheen which made female staff in the office cry for what happened to Dr. Shaheen.
Six other Palestinian citizens were reported kidnapped by PA security elements from different West Bank provinces on the same day.
In the context of their persistent violations against Palestinian women, the PA security apparatuses still impose for the third consecutive day house arrest on teacher Wafa Man’na, the wife of prisoner Isam Al-Ashqar.
In Qalqiliya, these apparatuses summoned Umm Haithem Baker, a mother of three detainees in PA jails for interrogation.
They also transferred Huda Al-Mara’aba, the wife of slain citizen Abdelnasser Al-Basha killed during PA raid on his house, from Rafidia hospital to Jenin prison despite her suffering from a cancer disease and her bad physical condition after one of her hands was amputated.
For its part, the Islamic Jihad Movement said Wednesday that the number of its cadres and activists imprisoned in PA jails in the West Bank reached about 95 detainees, adding that these arrests are a disgrace on the PA.
