Hamdan: Abbas’ Decrees Add Fuel To Fire
Osama Hamdan, Hamas movement representative in Lebanon , said that the Thursday’s decrees of President Mahmoud Abbas are totally wrong and will only complicate matters and add fuel to fire.
Tayeb Abdel Rahim, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Presidency, declared on Thursday evening that president Mahmoud Abbas issued three decrees of relieving PM Ismail Haniya of his post, declaring a state of emergency and forming a caretaker government after the security developments in Gaza Strip .
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice phoned on Thursday the Palestinian President to express her support. When whether she did so, ahead of her meeting with Paraguay Foreign Minister, she said:” Yes I phoned Abbas.”
In a related development, Izzedine Al-Qassam Brigades the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas fully controlled the key security headquarters in Gaza Strip, after crushing battles that claimed lives of 24 persons and one hundred injured.
For his part, Hamas spokesman, Sami Abu Zuhri, described what happened on Thursday as “a second liberation” of the Gaza Strip from what he called “collaborators of the occupation” after first liberating it from “the Israeli settlers”. He said Hamas was obliged to do so after “all mediations failed in stopping crimes committed by those collaborators ” .
Abu Zuhri pointed out that these headquarters (of Fatah movement) were used for killing and torturing (Hamas membrs), confirming that Hamas aims at restoring peace to Gaza Strip .
However, the Hamas spokesman confirmed that the moderate movement is ready for a ceasefire if president Mahmoud Abbas is really serious in intentions to stop these incidents.
For his part, Osama Hamdan, Hamas movement representative in Lebanon , said:” President Abu Mazen’s decree is totally wrong and would only complicate matters and add fuel to fire.
Hamdan indicated that such a decree will never enable the team of collaborators in Fatah to their aspirations of toppling the elected government of Hamas which was elected by the Palestinian people”.
“We wished Abbas had taken a decision of ending the violations of the security chiefs who conspire with the occupation against the Palestinians. These security chiefs refuse to form the security services in a way that protects people and not to protect the occupation. The president should issue a clear decision against them”, said the Hamas leader.
Hamdan stressed in a statement to Ikhwanweb that:” The problem which Hamas is tackling isn’t with Fatah or the security services. The problem is rather with a group of collaborators who use these services to their interests .
Hamdan denied reports of any schism inside the movement and that Al-Qassam Brigades don’t take any move except after consulting the politburo, specially during such circumstances that require historical decisions.
Hamdan called on the PA president Mahmoud Abbas to:” Take serious steps towards studying the paper offered by Hamas movement on Wednesday June, 13, regarding reorganizing the internal situation”.
Hamdan pointed out that Hamas paper speaks about giving full security authority to the Interior Minister and that all security services become under his control, and reorganize the security services according to a national agenda to prevent any contact between them and the occupation, in addition to proving guarantees to carrying out all previous agreements signed between both movements, according to him.
Hamdan confirmed that” The Palestinian President has only the option of holding a dialogue with Hamas Movement and working for reorganizing the situation according a respect of law and providing security to citizens.
Asked about the movement’s reaction towards Abu Mazen’s decision, Hamdan said:” We still study a response, taking into consideration the interests of the Palestinian people.
