Haneyya: We are keen on improving the health sector in Gaza

KHAN YOUNIS — Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya stated Sunday that his government is keen on improving the health sector in the Gaza Strip by all means available in order to alleviate the citizens’ suffering from traveling abroad to receive medical treatment.

His remarks came during the inauguration of the unit of cardiac catheterization and intensive care for children in the European hospital in Khan Younis.

Haneyya mandated, during his visit to the hospital, Dr. Basem Naim, the health minister, to devote himself completely to the ministry of health instead of being responsible for two ministries including the youth and sport ministry.

He also declared his government’s readiness to provide this new unit in the European hospital with emergency budgets and all needs necessary for heart surgery, so that heart patients will not have to leave Gaza for medical treatment.
