Haneyya announces intention to appoint a woman as minister
GAZA — Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya announced on Tuesday that he was planning to appoint a woman for the post of minister of women affairs.
Haneyya during a reception in honor of workers in the ministry of women affairs said that his government was pondering the appointment of more than one woman as ministers to give women the opportunity to share in the decision-making process.
He said that women should be present in the government and diplomatic corps similar to the executive and judicial posts.
The premiersaid that the Palestinian women had contributed in various fields in the society even in the resistance against occupation.
