Haneyya asks Egypt to permanently open Rafah crossing

PA premier Ismail Haneyya on Saturday asked Egypt to completely and permanently open the Rafah border crossing between Gaza Strip and Egypt to alleviate the suffering of the Gaza inhabitants.

Haneyya was inspecting the terminal”s traffic after the interior ministry announced that it would be open for passengers for three days starting Saturday.

The premier thanked the terminal”s employees and security men for their efforts in preserving security and in facilitating the travel of the citizens.

The ministry declared earlier today that two busses loaded with passengers mostly sick citizens traveling for treatment abroad, students and stranded citizens had passed through to the Egyptian side of the borders on Saturday morning.

It added that the travel procedures were proceeding normally, hoping that all those who registered their names with the ministry would be able to travel.
